Designed by William Mitchell, Quinta do Lago Sul opened to the public in 1974, and since then has had the honor of hosting the "Open de Portugal" eight times: 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001, among other important professional and amateur events. For many professionals, Quinta do Lago Sul is considered the favorite.
